Gencon Day 2, Focus: Dark Age Beginner Tournament

If yesterday's Malifaux tourney was an example of what not to do for a beginner's event, today's Dark Age Apocalypse event was an example of what to do. Though marred by some odd schedule mishaps (times listed being wrong) and some broken models (thanks to shoddy storage by CMON/Producers/event staff/whoever) It was a lot of fun. It ended up being less of a tournament and more of a 'play everyone else with borrowed, well painted models on well done tables to learn the system' ball of chaos, with no arranged matches or points scored, but still I felt it went better then the Malifaux tourney, if more chaotically.
Which meant it had the exact opposite effect on me. Where the Malifaux event left me with a sour taste in my mouth and a negative view of a game I was really interested in, the Dark Age event left me with an interest in a game I wasn't really interested in before. And, to make it better, everyone who participated got a prize, being a full color, full sized, hardback copy of the main rulebook for the game. Just the thing to get a newb like me hooked, beyond perfect for a beginner event.. Wyrd could learn quite a few lessons here.
